Oodles of Poodles Rescue
Carlisle, KY
News
We're moving!!!! We have bought a farm in Bourbon Co., KY. It is a beautiful
place and much more appropriate to run a rescue. We are hoping to build some
fine kennels, so if you know of a helping hand who is willing to donate some
time and expertise, let us know. The dogs will be able to enjoy a beautiful and
peaceful view with nothing but miles of trees and hills. The house is
appropriate to entertain overnight visitors to the rescue so they can spend some
time with their new family member before having to jet off for home. We are so
excited about the new place, and we know it is going to be great for the poos we
save.
Who We Are
Oodles of Poodles is a rescue organization primarily for poodles, although we
have been known to take in other death row doggies because we just couldn't
stand the thought of them not finding a loving home. We are dedicated to finding
a loving home for each of our animals in rescue.
Adopting a friend
We require an adoption application, home check, vet reference, and the
typical adoption fee is between $150-$300, depending on medical expenses for
that particular poo. We also require a fenced yard, and we will not adopt to
anyone with children under the age of 10 due to not knowing the history of the
dogs we rescue out of a shelter. We do not ship dogs, but we may be able to set
up a volunteer transport team, depending on the distance. Please e-mail us for
an application.

Four Paws Animal Transport 2
Milwaukee, WI
Who We Are
We are an organization that is working with rural shelters and dog pounds in
several different southern/eastern states to help place as many dogs and cats as
possible. We are doing this because these shelters are located in very rural
areas, low on finances and these animals need help. And they get very over
crowded because they take in animals from several counties in their area, and
there just aren't enough good homes for all the dogs there.
These animals at shelters like this are well cared for, yet they have little
or no chance of ever being adopted into a loving home. Please adopt one of these
animals and you will give them a chance at life.
Every year these rural shelters take in numerous animals, some are adopted to
new loving homes, some are claimed because the owners cared enough to call the
shelter to see if their lost pet was there, but most were killed because their
time ran out and no one cared to look for them or give them a chance at life.
The rural areas are much different than most of us know. Animals are not
regarded as "family" pets, they are simply a dog or a cat, and mostly left
outside to fend for themselves, or thrown away like yesterdays newspaper. These
animals deserve better, and we are seeking to find them some hope and give them
a chance at life as best as we can. So far we have adopted over 400 dogs and
puppies, cats and kittens, to families like yourselves.
The Adoption Process
This program has worked wonderfully and we believe that in providing you with
support while making your decision, as well as AFTER the adoption process when
you have your new pet at home, this ensures a lasting relationship with your new
pet.
We will ONLY place an animal in a home where we feel it is best for the
family as well as the animal.
We under no circumstances would want to place an animal where it doesn't
belong as it doesn't help the animal to be replaced again and again, nor does it
say much about the reputation we strive to have operating this program.
Here is how the program works: The adoption fee for puppies under the age of
6 mos. or shelter dogs where that particular shelter is not equipped to spay or
neuter is $125, (spay/neuter contract will apply) which includes any
vaccinations and any deworming treatments they would have received from the
shelter, as well as a health certificate from a Vet.
If the dogs and puppies are already spayed/neutered the adoption fee is $175,
which would include the spay/neuter, vaccinations including rabies, and
dewormings, and the Vet Health Certificate.
The adoption fee for cats/kittens is $75 dollars, this includes
spaying/neutering, shots, and a health certificate.
We'd like to state, that the vetting fee's which these rural shelters incur
is most of your adoption fee. These shelters do not have an "on staff" vet like
some of the shelters in the Midwest states. They often end up getting only a
very small percentage discount from these Vets.
For each dog, Four Paws Animal Transport will use a very small
portion in aiding for gasoline costs in transporting the dogs since the shelters
are mostly 8 plus hours from the WI area.
Most rescues will take dogs from a shelter and place them in their own foster
homes, and collect their own adoption fee.
Our program is set up to give something back to the shelters so they can care
for the dogs that remain there with food, proper vet care and supplies.
We wanted our program to give back, and not just "take" from these rural
shelters who have nothing to begin with.
Unfortunately because these pets are from out of state, they would not be
available for viewing prior to adoption.
We ask that people open their hearts and homes to these homeless animals.
By the shelter people giving us very accurate descriptions about each animals
temperment, as well as our personal evaluations of the dogs as we visit the
shelters often on transports, we can tell you all about them.
We test them with other animals, temperment testing and we can estimate their
full grown size, and tell you about the type of breed or mixed breed and those
characteristics as well.
That way you can make an informed decision about your potential new family
member and will not be surprised about who you are adopting, except that they
are usually much cuter in person.
How we normally work is that once we have at least 10 or more pets adopted
from the shelter, (which normally takes a 1-2 weeks at most), we arrange
transport for them and bring them back to the Milwaukee area. If their new home
happens to be on our route back, IN, IL areas then we can make special
arrangements to meet you along the way with other families to bring you your
special addition to your family.
Once a family is interested in adopting a specific pet, we will ask that you
fill out an application. There are sometimes multiple applications on one
particular dog or puppy and in those cases, we will place the pet with one of
the qualifying families where we feel the dog/pup will benefit the most, per
what the dogs requirements for a family are.
If you would like to fill out an application questionnaire regarding a
specific animal, please let us know and we can email the application to you.
We ENCOURAGE questions that you may have regarding the animals as we realize
this is a big decision for you and your family. References from prior adoptive
families are available upon request and happily given out.
Sincerely, Four Paws Animal Transport 2
